چکیده

The POPCORN project provides an infrastructure for globally distributed computation over the whole Internet. It provides any programmer connected to the Internet with a single huge virtual parallel computer composed of all processors on the Internet, which care to participate at any given moment. POPCORN provides a market-based mechanism for trade in CPU time to motivate processors to provide their CPU cycles for other peoples’ computations. ‘‘Selling’’ CPU time is as easy as visiting a certain web site with a Java-enabled browser. ‘‘Buying’’ CPU time is done by writing a parallel program using the POPCORN paradigm. A third entity in the POPCORN system is a ‘‘market’’ for CPU time, which is where buyers and sellers meet and trade. The POPCORN system may be visited on our web-site: http:rrwww.cs.huji.ac.ilr;popcorn. q 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Identifying the Factors Affecting the Selection of B2B Online Market Entry Strategies Using Soft System Methodology (Case Study: IT Industry knowledge-based companies)

The Internet is changing the transaction pattern of B2B markets. One of the major concerns of IT knowledge-based companies is how to take advantage of B2B online markets. These companies believe that the only possible strategy for entering these markets is to launch independent websites, and they are usually reluctant to enter these markets due to the requirements such as financial resources an...

A DSS-Based Dynamic Programming for Finding Optimal Markets Using Neural Networks and Pricing

One of the substantial challenges in marketing efforts is determining optimal markets, specifically in market segmentation. The problem is more controversial in electronic commerce and electronic marketing. Consumer behaviour is influenced by different factors and thus varies in different time periods. These dynamic impacts lead to the uncertain behaviour of consumers and therefore harden the t...

Compute Power Market: Towards a Market-Oriented Grid

The Compute Power Market (CPM) is a market-based resource management and job scheduling system for grid computing on Internet-wide computational resources, particularly low-end personal computing devices. It transforms the metacomputing environment into a computational market wherein one can solve problems by renting computational power, storage, and special services from idle resources (comput...

Analyzing Market-Based Resource Allocation Strategies for the Computational Grid

In this paper, we investigate G-commerce — computational economies for controlling resource allocation in Computational Grid settings. We define hypothetical resource consumers (representing users and Grid-aware applications) and resource producers (representing resource owners who “sell” their resources to the Grid). We then measure the efficiency of resource allocation under two different mar...
